How to use keyboard controls for the Flock XR toolbox

Instructions designed for Release 2 of Flock XR coming Spring 2027

The toolbox in Flock XR is where you find the code blocks you need for your project.

This is useful if you are a keyboard only user or when you prefer using the keyboard instead of dragging blocks with a mouse or trackpad.

Open the toolbox

To open or focus the toolbox, press:

Open the toolbox	`T`	`T`

Search for a category by typing

With the toolbox open, you can skip to a toolbox category by starting to type its name.

For example, if you want to go to the Events category, start typing E V in quick succession. Flock XR will move you to the Events category.

This is helpful when you already know which category you need.

Search for a block

With the toolbox open, press ↑ until the Search box is highlighted.

Alternatively with the toolbox open, press:

Search for a block	cmd `⌘ + F`	`Ctrl + F`

This is helpful when you already know which block you need.

To go to a found block press Tab. If more than one block has been returned, use the arrow keys to move to the correct block.

Move through categories and blocks

Use the arrow keys to move around the toolbox.

Action	Mac	Windows
Move up through categories or blocks	`↑`	`↑`
Move down through categories or blocks	`↓`	`↓`
Move from the categories list to blocks	`←`	`←`
Move from the blocks list to categories	`→`	`→`

You can use these keys to move between toolbox categories and the code blocks inside them.

Add the selected block

When the block you want is selected, press Enter.

Action	Mac	Windows
Add selected block	`Enter`	`Enter`

The selected block will be added so you can use it in your project.

Quick steps

Press T to open or focus the toolbox.
Start typing a category name to jump to it.
Use the arrow keys to move through categories and blocks.
Press Enter to add the selected block.

Tips for using the toolbox with the keyboard

Look for the highlighted category or block. This shows where your keyboard focus is.
Use start-to-type search when you know the category name.
Use the arrow keys when you want to explore the blocks in a category.
Press Enter only when the block you want is selected.

Troubleshooting

Pressing keys does not move around the toolbox

The toolbox might not be selected. Press T to open or focus the toolbox, then try the arrow keys again.

Make sure the toolbox is selected before you start typing. Press T, then type the category name again.

I added the wrong block

You can undo your last action.

Action	Mac	Windows
Undo	`cmd ⌘ + Z`	`Ctrl + Z`

I cannot remember the toolbox shortcuts

Open the keyboard controls menu.
