What does the Map block do?

To use the Map block in Flock XR, place it inside a Start block, then choose a terrain shape and material patterns to create the ground for your 3D world.

    Steps

    1. Add a Start block to your code area
    2. Drag a Map block inside the Start block

The terrain adds shape and interest to your 3D world. The material block can be used to add a texture, colour, and transparency to your ground.

    Use the map block

The Map block must be placed inside an Event block.

If the Map block is not inside an Event block, it will not run and the map will not change.

You might use the Map block when:

    • Creating a new world
    • Making your world feel more intriguing
    • Changing the scene to a specific biome
    • Creating a mood (happy, calm, mysterious, dramatic)
    • Matching the map to your sky

Remix a project with the sky block

My Place is a demo project that uses a map block to create a random hills with a stripy pink material for the ground.

You can remix this project to:
    – See how the terrains change the feel of the world
    – Change the colours and compare the results
    – Experiment with different moods and styles

Remixing projects is one of the best ways to learn in Flock.
