Select and move blocks on a touch screen

Instructions designed for Release 2 of Flock XR coming Spring 2027

Flock XR uses a two-step action for moving code blocks on touchscreen devices. This helps prevent you from accidentally moving blocks when you’re trying to scroll around the Code area.

Select a block before moving it

To move a block on a touchscreen:

    1. Tap the block you want to move.
    2. The block is highlighted in yellow to show that it is selected.
    3. Touch the selected block again and drag it to its new position.
    4. Release it when the block is where you want it.

You can use this to move individual blocks or reposition blocks within your code.

Why do I need to select the block first?

On a touchscreen, similar finger movements are used for scrolling and dragging.

Requiring you to select a block before moving it helps Flock XR tell the difference between the two actions.

This means you can swipe up and down to scroll around your Code area without accidentally dragging your blocks out of position.

If a block isn’t highlighted in yellow, dragging on the Code area will not move it. Tap the block first when you want to reposition it.
