When you use the Move, Rotate and Scale gizmos in Flock XR, you can manipulate objects directly using the gizmo axes.
👉 See How to use the gizmos in Flock XR for an overview
Flock XR also provides button controls as an alternative way to make these changes.
The buttons can be particularly useful on a touchscreen, where selecting and dragging a small gizmo axis accurately can be more difficult.
Show or hide the gizmo controls
With a gizmo active, select the Settings button, shown as two cogs, to choose whether the additional button gizmo controls are displayed.
This lets you hide the controls when you don’t need them and show them when you would prefer to use buttons rather than manipulating the gizmo directly.
Move an object
When you use the Move gizmo, you can normally drag one of the coloured arrows to move an object along an axis.
Alternatively, use the buttons on the Canvas:
- Select the X, Y or Z button to choose the axis you want to move along.
- Select + to move the object in one direction along that axis.
- Select − to move the object in the opposite direction.
- Continue selecting + or − until the object is in the position you want.
The X, Y and Z buttons use the same colours as the corresponding axes on the gizmo, making it easier to match each button to the axis it controls.

Rotate an object
The Rotate gizmo also provides alternative controls on the Canvas.
- Select X, Y or Z to choose the axis you want to rotate around.
- Use the slider to adjust the object’s rotation around the selected axis.
The axis buttons use the same colours as the corresponding axes on the Rotate gizmo.
This gives you an alternative to selecting and dragging the coloured rotation rings directly.
The rotation slider snaps at −180°, −90°, 0°, 90° and 180° to make precise rotations easier. On supported devices, you’ll also feel a small vibration when you reach a snap point.

Scale an object
When using the Scale gizmo, you can use the Canvas buttons to change an object’s size without dragging the gizmo handles.
- Select X, Y or Z to choose the axis you want to scale.
- Select + to increase the object’s size along that axis.
- Select − to decrease its size along that axis.
You can also select the All axes button to scale the object equally in every direction.
Using All axes keeps the object’s proportions while making the whole object larger or smaller.

Why use the gizmo buttons?
You can choose whichever way of controlling a gizmo works best for you.
Dragging the gizmo axes can be a quick and intuitive way to position, rotate and scale objects. The additional controls provide another way to perform the same types of adjustments without needing to precisely select and drag an axis.
This can be particularly useful:
- on phones and tablets
- when using a touchscreen
- when a gizmo axis is difficult to select
- when you want to make controlled adjustments along one particular axis
You can show or hide the additional controls using the Settings button whenever you need them.
